Akib

From a young age I dealt with rapid changes in my surroundings and learned that through devotion I could achieve my goals and overcome my fears. After immigrating to the United States at the age of 14, I was faced with culture shock. Initially I had difficulty speaking English and was not sure how to communicate with others. However after challenging myself and getting out of my comfort zone, I was able to improve my English language skills.

I am currently pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering at the Grove School of Engineering at City College. The reason I decided to earn a degree in Computer Engineering is because we live in a digital era where many of our activities are influenced by technology. In the future I want to become an Engineer so that I can use technology in a way to benefit people all around the world. I hope to become the next Elon Musk, Andrew Grove, and Bill Gates; businessmen who have made a huge impact on our daily lives through technology.

Through America Needs You I am hoping to develop my professional skills, interact with Mentor Coaches who are in my field of interest, and receive guidance in taking the right steps to accomplish my career goals. The reason I am participating in this program is to gain new knowledge and experience that will help me achieve my dream of becoming a Computer Engineer.
