I am currently a sophomore attending Guttman Community College pursuing an associate’s degree in Business Administration. I expect to graduate in June 2015 and will then transfer to a four-year college where I hope to earn my Bachelor’s degree.
My first year at college was full of discovery. I worked for the Information Technology department where I was able to significantly improve my computer skills. My interest in bettering myself has motivated me to become a member of various clubs such as Phi Theta Kappa and search committees. But I also wanted to help others become successful in their journeys so I decided to join the Student Government Association (SGA). By being a member of the SGA, I am able to not only gain valuable leadership experience, but the experience has also helped make my community more cohesive.
I discovered my interest for the business world in my junior year in high school. I used my high school years to explore talents and interests by joining clubs and programs such as cooking, fashion, the Aspira club and more. I also had the opportunity to take various College Now courses offered by CUNY such as Speech, Psychology, Accounting, and Intro to Business. My accounting course captivated my attention and I became more and more engaged in things where I can experience what I had learned in class by becoming the Treasurer of the Aspira club. I found a connection between managing and organizing a business that I had never felt with any of my past experiences. Even though I enjoyed all of my involvements, being a part of the professional business world is definitely what I want my future to entail.
