Growing up, my life consisted of social interactions and exposure to exotic animals I had never seen before. I developed a passion and curiosity for companion animals and their well being. My parents always supported and encouraged me to pursue higher education. I finally decided that I wanted to pursue a career in which I’d be exposed to animals on a daily basis. When I researched different universities I wanted to attend, I came across UC Davis and their Animal Science program.
I am now a second year Pre-Vet Animal Science major at UC Davis. I have been exposed to so many new opportunities that have encouraged me to grow as an individual and strengthen my knowledge in companion animals. All my Animal Science courses have provided an extensive hands-on learning opportunity that no other college can. I held an internship position at the Sacramento Zoo this last winter where I handled exotic animals like hedgehogs, snakes, armadillos, etc.
Being a Kayne Scholar and a member of Lambda Theta Nu Sorority, inc. has challenged me to surpass my own expectations. I have grown so much ever since joining both organizations. I can feel comfortable in my own skin, am confident in my academics, and in my ability to succeed in the future. My expectations and goals have changed ever since I decided to make decisions for myself and join organizations that have encouraged me to keep pushing through any obstacle.
