I am currently a sophomore at Baruch College, working towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting. I have always known that I want to pursue a career that falls in the business industry. After spending a year in a business-oriented college, I am more aware of the importance of accounting and believe that good management of numbers is the key behind any successful company.
Presently, I am interning in the Domestic Taxation Department of Citigroup. My primary role consists of preparing taxation reports and providing assistance to other members of the team. This internship serves as a valuable experience because it gives me an opportunity to see a tax accountant’s day to day responsibilities and also allows me to continue developing strong analytical abilities, Excel skills and taxation knowledge. One of the things that I particularly enjoy about the internship is the emphasis they place on teamwork.
All of these opportunities, along with the New York Fellows Program, will shape me into a more experienced and well-rounded professional. I look forward to meeting new people and building my technical knowledge as well as time management and teamwork skills. I find it delightful to converse with different people because I believe that everyone has something to share and if one stays open-minded, the space for improvements and knowledge is endless. Other hobbies that I enjoy doing on my free time are engaging in outdoor sports activities such as tennis, badminton and volleyball, and graphic design.
