Growing up in a community where kids are continuously plagued by the belief that “there is no way out” has played a huge role in my mental growth. As a child, I would work any job I could obtain to help my family financially while balancing my life as an athlete and honor student. I was tired of watching my parents struggle to provide for my younger brothers and I; so I decided to intervene. This experience helped me become a very diligent student, role model for my siblings, and fueled my desire to succeed.
I am currently attending Baruch College where I plan to major in Finance and minor in Economics. Ultimately, my goals are to graduate college with the opportunity to join a prestigious financial services firm in their investment banking division and be in a position to give back to my community. I became interested in finance when I had the opportunity to participate in a case study competition where I developed a well-rounded understanding of how the financial services industry operates. My curiosity to learn more about the field led me to intern at a boutique investment bank, where I utilized my strong work ethic and was intrigued at how much I learned in just a couple of weeks. I worked on exciting live deals and was exposed to many aspects of different companies.
Fortunately, I was able to leverage the experience I gained during my internship to join Baruch’s Investment Management Group, which is a student-run fund with over $250,000 assets under management I firmly believe that my ambition and devotion towards my goals coupled with the vast opportunities that America Needs You offers will make me a successful Fellow.
