Born and raised in Qingdao, a fabulous coastal city in China, I moved to New York in 2012 and currently live in Queens. As a first-generation college student and the child of a single immigrant parent, I am very fortunate to have been exposed to a myriad of opportunities and endless list of possibilities.
Currently, I am a rising sophomore at Macaulay Honors College at Queens College, where I received a four-year full scholarship. I am considering a major in Biology and wish to enroll in a Physician Assistant Program or medical school in the future. I have a keen interest in medicine and research. This interest stems from a fascination of not only the anatomy and physiology of the human body, but also microbiology and pathology. I began to volunteer at Flushing Hospital Medical Center because of my strong pursuit of a career in medicine. My responsibilities consist of assisting nurses in fulfilling patients’ needs, interacting directly with and offering emotional support to patients from all kinds of backgrounds, and interpreting between doctors and Mandarin-speaking patients with limited English.
I am excited to be an ANY Fellow and wish to develop essential professional skills with the help of a dedicated Mentor Coach throughout the amazing workshops ANY offers over the next two years. I can certainly tell that participating in this program will prepare me well for my future career.
