I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic and immigrated with my family to the Bronx when I was 10 years old. Growing up in the South Bronx, I witnessed many of the obstacles faced by the community. My mother worked hard to provide a better life for my brother and I, and always taught us that gaining an education was the path to long-term success.
Currently, I am a sophomore at CUNY-City College in Manhattan. I am exploring careers in medicine and business with the hope to make an impact in the areas of most need in my community. Noticing the high youth pregnancy and poverty levels, I sought to help through volunteer work. These experiences plus the support of my mother, motivated me to be the first in my family to enroll in college.
I am excited to be part of the ANY organization. Meeting so many wonderful and inspiring mentors has been eye-opening. I am hoping that by working with these people, I can achieve the great success I have always dreamt of.
