Although I was born and raised in France, I identify myself as of Haitian descent. My parents moved to Paris from Haiti in their mid-twenties because they were seeking a better life, but also had hopes of providing better opportunities than their parents had for both of them. This is the reason why I decided to do the same and move in the United States after high school. Although I miss my parents, and it is difficult to manage my own home, I think that moving to the United States was a valuable experience that will allow me to mature and strengthen my personality.
Eventually, I would like to with a master’s degree after earning my bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. I have always wanted to be part of the growth and improvement of big cities. In addition to helping the infrastructure of my community, I would also like to help develop it socially. While a city must be structurally sound, it should also be a space that its citizens are socially comfortable with and it is this joint goal that I hope to focus my career on. In the meantime, I also want to work in an automotive department in order to design, create and use harmless materials so that it protects the planet. Through America Needs You, I will gain internship experience that will help prepare me for these future positions as well as provide the opportunity to practice my public speaking skills and network.
