Born on the south side of Chicago, I grew up hearing that the American dream is to have an education and pursue one’s dream career. My parents decided to leave Mexico City and move to Chicago in order for me to achieve this American dream. They have always motivated me by saying “You can do it”, words that led me to consistent academic achievement. Most importantly, their encouragement inspired me to be the first person in my family to attend college.
I am currently a sophomore at University of Illinois at Chicago majoring in accounting and seeking a minor in law. Working as an office assistant at a law firm during my freshman year, I am interested in how law can impact many business practices in corporations. Also, I want to develop a better understanding of how law impacts business on both national and international scales.
I am honored to be a part of America Needs You. In the next two years, I want to build strong networking skills that can lead to numerous internship opportunities and help me gain valuable working experience. Additionally, I am excited to have a mentor coach who can help me navigate college, and who can advise me about the choices that I have to make in order to achieve my professional goals. Lastly, by being in this program, I am inspired to support other students hoping to achieve their own American Dream by one day being a mentor coach myself.
