I am a rising junior at Rutgers University- Newark working towards a double major in Social Work and Public and Nonprofit Administration. I was born and raised in Puebla, Mexico. Four years ago, I came to the United States, a country that has provided me immeasurable opportunities including becoming a 2014 America Needs You Fellow. Moving to a country with a different culture and language provides me with the chance to appreciate diversity, to learn from other cultures, to become bilingual, and to continue pursuing an education that will guide me toward my dream of becoming a United Nations Ambassador. As part of my work experience in the nonprofit sector, I have been an intern for several human services and nonprofits organizations including Family Success Center, whose mission is family preservation, Support Center, an organization strengthening nonprofit organizations, and the International Rescue Committee which responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises. Besides being a student, and an intern, I strive for social justice and serve as an advocate for community development.
