My family immigrated to America five years ago. My parents were educated but never had a chance to attend college. They always told me how their lives would be different had they ever obtained a college degree. Because of my parents, I have become a goal-oriented person. They supported my goals and pushed me to pursue a college education.
Currently, I am earning my Bachelor’s degree in Accounting at Macaulay Honors College at Queens College. In addition to maintaining my good academic performance, I am also passionate to gain work experience. By applying concepts of accounting to real-world problems, I am able to completely comprehend abstract theories and achieve great success in my accounting courses. Through managing both school and work, I have become skilled in multitasking, time management, and project coordination.
My career interests led me to join the New York Fellows Program. The program provides connections to business industries along with Mentor Coaches, who are from prestigious organizations and are willing to share their personal experiences and advice. I feel confident that I will be fully prepared to begin my career in accounting by the end of my two-year fellowship. I plan to treasure all of the opportunities and possibilities available to me through the America Needs You network.
