I am from Chicago and a student at Northeastern Illinois University majoring in psychology and minoring in biology. After earning my bachelor’s degree, I will work to change the world by pursuing a career as either a therapist or a psychiatrist.
I have experienced bullying because of my appearance and how I talked. Therefore, I want to be altruistic to those who are facing problems and trying to fit in. Additionally, my mom told me a story about how she experienced homeless at age 11 after my grandmother died and how she started bullying others as a result. This story truly inspired me and be magnanimous to my bullies, and even look at them in another light. As a therapist or psychiatrist I will be able to philanthropy others by fully open up and to be themselves so that they may live a life that is meaningful and beautiful.
I had to improve myself if I wanted to become a therapist or a psychiatrist. In particular, I wanted to improve my articulation. I joined several clubs to work on this communication so I could be comprehensible to others and be able to reach out to people. I also joined several organizations like America Needs You, which have given me opportunities to develop confidence as a communicator. Not only that but America Needs You will also help me to see if I will like these two career paths by searching for internships or by shadowing someone in these fields of work
