I was born and raised in Cameroon. Since I was a kid I always dreamed of coming to the United States because only a country full of opportunities like this can help me reach my goals. After I graduated from high school, I took a break from academics and started supporting my mother to help pay for my younger sister’s school. In 2013 something fabulous happened in my life and I was able to move to the US. Coming to the US is the best thing that ever happened to me. As an immigrant and first-generation college student, I need to work hard to accomplish all my dreams and give back to the community.
After completing my associate’s degree in Mathematics at Borough of Manhattan Community College, I plan to transfer to a four-year college to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics. With my passion for numbers and the world of finance, my long-term career goal is to become an Actuary. I’m studying to pass the exam P and FM of the society of Actuaries and also work part-time as a tutor in the Math department.
Knowing that being an Actuary involves coordinating, supervising, or managing people, I joined ANY to build my leadership skills, grow my professional network and have a mentor who will help me reach my full potential. I want to thank the ANY family for believing in me and my dreams by giving me the opportunity to become a member of this amazing program.
