I was born in Astoria, Queens to Ecuadorian parents but now live in Brooklyn and am currently a sophomore at Queens College in the Macaulay Honors Program. I am working towards a Bachelor’s degree in International Business and my goal is to earn a B.B.A. in International Business with a minor in Computer Science.
From a young age, my parents have always instilled in me the importance of education. They continue to motivate me to do my best in school and to further my education. Though balancing classes, work, and social life might be difficult at times, I still continue because of my strong determination and willpower. The challenges I have faced throughout my life are what motivate me. I believe that everything in life is a learning experience, including the mistakes that we make along the way.
I am currently working in a law firm focused on immigration law. My work there includes researching new bills and laws regarding immigration that help our clients, filing applications, keeping records of the clients and much more. I am also really passionate about helping my community. I have volunteered at a hospital and have coached a children’s soccer team. With the help of the workshops offered through the New York Fellows Program, I hope to expand my network, further define my career path, and learn valuable skills such as public speaking as well as gain experience through the internship opportunities available.
