After I earn my associate degree in Criminal Justice at Bronx Community College, I will continue my education at a four-year university to earn a bachelor’s degree. Given my interest in criminal justice, I plan to attend law school to earn my Juris Doctor degree. I was the salutatorian at Brooklyn Frontiers High School, where I developed a passion for human rights through my involvement in the Arts and Justice Initiative at the Brooklyn Academy of the Arts.
My goal is to learn as much as possible and leverage this knowledge in underprivileged communities. There were countless opportunities that molded me into the person I am today. Some include: BAM Arts and Justice with Brooklyn Academy of Music, Everybody is a Star with the Broadway play Platanos y Collard Greens, Student Voice Collaborative with the Department of Education, conflict resolution training with Good Shepherd Services, and countless others. Most importantly, supporting students with their academics as well as social/emotional learning at an after school program with Good Shepherd Services has helped me gain patience and compassion.
I am hopeful that the America Needs You Fellows Program will sharpen my professional skills and give me a deeper understanding of my future goals and ambitions. This is a great opportunity to network, experience different career paths, and develop friendships that may last a lifetime.
