Many people ask me where I get my resilience from, and to that, I would have to say my Brooklyn neighborhood of Canarsie. Without its strength, I would have never gotten into Baruch College and become a part of the UMLA Scholars Program.
When I entered college I came in with the idea of pursuing a degree in Accounting after being pushed into the field by family members and friends alike. This is when I learned a lesson that has since stuck with me. That lesson was to make sure that in anything you do, you are the one that is pleased with the decisions being made and satisfied with everything that is going on. So after entering Baruch College and exploring its vast number of career opportunities, I decided to do what was best for me and pursue a degree in Marketing. The career goes along with who I am as a person . Furthermore, after taking the iStartStrong career assessment, it not only solidified my aspiration of becoming the next great marketing executive, but confirmed the idea that as a person you are never just great at one thing. The assessment also showed me I would be perfect in four other fields, providing me with even more encouragement.
Joining the ANY program was a must for me after hearing of the many advantages it provides professionally. With my tenacity and help from my Mentor Coach, it’s impossible for me to think that I will not be able to reach the next level.
