I am pursuing a degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering at Rutgers University – New Brunswick. I like to challenge myself to imagine new concepts and possibilities. I had the opportunity to apply my desire for engineering and curiosity of machines and how things work when I joined my school’s robotics team. I spent numerous hours writing and debugging the code for our robot to compete at the regional competition. After the completion of each program, I was then able to witness the application of it by observing the robot do various tasks such as driving around scattered cones or launching balls into a hoop. In addition to technical participation, I was also heavily involved in the running of the organization as a leader of the team. This gave me a deeper understanding of the requirements of leadership.
I will continue to learn through such hands-on opportunities during college and internships. My passion for learning and desire to be in a challenging environment has prepared me for the field of engineering. I know that my love for learning will continue to be exceptionally nurtured throughout college. The America Needs You Program will prepare me for graduate study, an internship or a career in the industry. ANY will be a strong support system in my college career to help me accomplish my professional goals. Engineering is naturally a practical discipline, and is a great fit for the way I work, as well as my interests. I look forward to contributing to this field and making a difference in people’s lives.
