My name is Dina and I am currently attending Brooklyn College, working to earn my bachelor’s degree. Coming from generations of diligent Vietnamese manual labor workers, I recognize that I am extremely fortunate to receive a well-rounded education. My gratitude is expressed through my intellectual curiosity.
I have really enjoyed taking classes in subjects such as Philosophy of the Mind to Business Law. I am currently interested in learning more about psychology and criminology. Living in New York City has sparked my interest in the human mind as we live among diverse personalities and mindsets. It fascinates me to understand why we think, act, and do certain things, and I am excited to further explore these concepts. Outside of school, I have a passion for exploring the unknown world around me and helping my community. I have volunteered for the Gerritsen Beach Hurricane Sandy Relief Fund and worked alongside the Public School Athletic League’s lacrosse commissioner, sharing my passion and providing leadership for young children at a free clinic.
As an honored Fellow at America Needs You, I am excited to learn from professionals who have already overcome many of the struggles that I will soon encounter. Growing up, the words “I can’t” were unacceptable in my vocabulary. Therefore, I will work my hardest. I will better myself. I will succeed. And I will always be grateful for ANY for providing mentorship and friendship as I embark on a new journey in my life.
