Emmanuel

I am majoring in criminal justice at University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) and am pursuing a pre-law track. In my spare time I enjoy reading, playing guitar, skateboarding, debating and researching.

Learning about criminal procedure, corrections and social justice as a college student has sparked my interest in law. My fascination with these topics has led me (with a professor’s assistance) to begin extensive research on laws and the effects of their implementation. I believe that the criminal justice system, although adequate, still needs some improvement. That said, the only way to ensure that justice is served in an ethically and efficient manner is to be involved. Thus, a career in law feels inevitable to ensure these things are done.

Currently I am considering a range of careers related to law, including a police officer, lawyer, judge, or FBI agent. With America Needs You, I look forward to working with a Mentor Coach to explore these options as well as continue to grow personally and professionally to become an exceptional candidate in whatever path or paths I chose. In addition, I look forward to collaborating with others, as it will help strengthen my skills as a researcher and public speaker as well as acquire new ones such as networking and time management.
