I was born in Los Angeles, California, but grew up in the vibrant city of Chicago. My parents immigrated to the United States from Mexico. Both of my parents only obtained an education up to the second and sixth grade levels. I wanted to prove to them that their decision to leave their family behind and chase after the American Dream was worth it. I wanted to be successful in school for them, despite growing up in a neighborhood plagued with violence. I worked hard, and because of that, I was accepted to attend the Illinois Institute of Technology as a Business major specializing in Finance and Construction Management.
My father was always passionate about building. Attending IIT and studying alongside engineers and architects solidified my interest in the construction field. I have always had a passion for numbers. I plan to combine my interests, so one day I can manage a renovation project in an underdeveloped neighborhood or country. I hope to help people gain better money management skills, so that they can achieve economic mobility, just like America Needs You strives to do.
Already ANY has helped me find the courage and confidence to pursue my career interests in a male-dominated field. I also believe ANY has the power to guide me in the right direction, and bring out the best within me. I am motivated to keep moving forward and make a positive change in society.
