Fernando

I am currently attending the University of Illinois at Chicago. I am majoring in Kinesiology with the hopes of becoming an Occupational Therapist. I have seen many family members and friends work with Occupational Therapists, and have seen the positive results. For this reason, was inspired to go into this field to help people with disabilities or injuries participate in everyday activities.

I am currently working for a non-profit organization called Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center. The organization’s mission is to provide help to the children of Chicago that have experienced trauma and abuse. My job is to transport patients to the center. My goal is to one day use the skills that I am learning from this job, and use them as an Occupational Therapist. I hope to be able to have a positive impact on others, just like the staff at CCAC.

Through America Needs You, I would like to learn more about myself and my strengths. I also hope to improve and grow as an individual that wants to better the community. I want to make great friendships, and help my peers accomplish their goals. I also hope to get extra guidance through ANY that will help me to succeed in college, and meet my career goals.
