I was born and raised in the vibrant city of Los Angeles. I am a first generation Chicana and a daughter to a hard working woman who came to the States to provide a better life for herself and eventually her children. Even though my mom never attained her college diploma she always stressed the importance of having one, venturing out into the world and helping others. Thanks to my mother, I have been fortunate to travel various parts of the world and my experiences of being exposed to many different cultures inspired me to want to help others.
I am currently a rising second year student at the University of California, Los Angeles where I am currently studying in the Life Sciences field with a Pre-Med track. Even though I am undecided in exactly what I want to major in, Biology and Neuroscience interest me the most. I would love to pursue to be a doctor or surgeon. As I venture into my second year I am looking forward to joining an organization that supports children’s education, public health, or shadowing at a local hospital.
Thanks to the Kayne Scholarship Foundation and ANY LA, I am excited to open many doors that are waiting to be unlocked as I continue my journey in discovering who I am and what I want to be in life.
