Giovanni

I am a first-generation student at the University of Illinois at Chicago in the Honors program, pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering. My interest in Computer Engineering stemmed from my desire to design and build things, along with my passion for computers. I hope to become a software engineer that develops and optimizes new technology, such as virtual reality. As of now, I have experience using C++, and I intend to learn other programming languages while at UIC.

I have interned at the University of Illinois at Chicago as a research assistant in the Micro Mechatronic Systems Laboratory. I was a member of the Air-Microfluidics Group, and focused on the development of a coal dust sensor. This sensor is designed to continuously monitor the coal dust in the air, and help improve the safety of coal miners. I was appointed to design and conduct experiments for different parts of the sensor to determine if it is functioning properly. I also collaborated with other graduates from different majors to address any malfunctions within the sensor.

I believe America Needs You can help me achieve my goals and explore my interests. America Needs You also provides me with the opportunity to network with individuals from various industries. I hope to become the successful individual that I aspire to be.
