I was born in a small, rural village in Chittagong, Bangladesh, where there were not many educational opportunities for girls or access to healthcare. My mother, who had to fight to graduate from high school, promised that she would do everything to help me attain a good education. She taught me the importance of education, and taught me how to work hard and be independent. Thanks to her, every day I strive to learn more, do more, and get one step closer to achieving my dream of becoming a pediatrician so that I can help nurture children from a young age.
I am a Biology major pursuing the pre-med track at The City College of New York. I have always had a passion for helping others and thinking critically. To further my passion, I completed an internship at SUNY Downstate Medical Center where I had the opportunity to conduct research about endometrial cancer. My internship helped me further realize that being a part of the medical field pushes me to think critically, step outside of my comfort zone, and explore what lies beyond my capabilities.
I am confident that America Needs You will help me pursue my passion through guidance, mentorship, and professional network. Access to a Mentor Coach who can guide me and help me stay on the right track will be crucial for my success. I am honored to be part of the America Needs You family.
