I was born and raised in Brooklyn as a first generation Chinese American. Growing up in New York, I was exposed to the business world at a young age. New York is filled with so many companies, ranging from large banks to small, family-owned businesses. Being surrounded by so many businesses, I became curious about the operations of a company, specifically the financial aspect.
As a rising sophomore in the honors program at Baruch College, I am pursuing a degree in finance and mathematics. I am passionate about numbers and analyzing data because they always come together to tell a story. In the future, I would like to build a career out of creating financial models, utilizing my interest of analytics to predict future financial movements. Currently, I am a domestic tax intern at Citigroup, where I assist my team with month-end closing reports. I hope this internship will be insightful as to how taxes affect financial institutions as well as investments.
Through the New York Fellows Program, I would like to develop the soft skills that cannot be learned in a classroom setting. Specifically, I hope to improve my networking skills and professionalism through interacting with the America Needs You staff, Mentor Coaches, and Fellows. I will apply the skills that I gain throughout the program to accomplish my ultimate goal of breaking into the quantitative financial field.
