I am a first-generation American, and the daughter of Mexican immigrants. My parents often struggled to help me with my homework and navigating the school system. This was difficult when it came to the college application process, since I was the first person in my family to apply to college. I’ve learned that each difficulty I have overcome, has helped me to get to where I am today, and has pushed me towards achieving something greater.
I am a full-time student pursing a degree in Business Management at UIC. Through a part-time retail job, and being a coordinator at my local youth group, I have gained a lot of important professional skills. I strive to be a great role model for my younger brother. I hope he sees there are so many opportunities out there to succeed if you work hard.
Through America Needs You I am hoping to get relevant internship experience, and improve my communication skills. I joined this program not only because I knew that it would open doors for me, but I knew it would become a second family for me. I know with the support from a program like this, I can achieve the goals that I once thought were impossible.
