Jarlin

Jarlin

I was born in the Dominican Republic, where I lived until I was seven and then moved to Passaic, New Jersey. I am currently attending Rutgers University – New Brunswick where I am pursuing a degree in Computer Science. I have a strong interest in the computer ecosystem, and math has been a subject that I have liked since a kid. Therefore, I want to pursue a career in the STEM field and acquire a job I am passionate about.

My passion for computer science originates from my adolescence and a certain experience with my first computer. My computer became infected with viruses and malware to the point that I barely had any control of it. This led me to research how to fix a laptop, and I discovered a wide array of information such as how to make computer graphics, develop my own websites and even learn computer languages like java. I later put my knowledge to use and participated in web design competitions with some of my peers, placing 1st (NJIT) and 2nd (SkillsUSA).

America Needs You will help guide me in a career path that I’m passionate about. With the opportunities and networking that ANY provides, I will obtain new skills that will positively contribute to my career and personal life. Furthermore, I hope to make new friends that can expose me to new ideas, interests, and new perspectives.
