Moving from Mexico to the United States, my parents’ dream was to provide my siblings and I with the foundation for a stable and successful future. I was born and raised in Evanston and my parents knew I had the resources available to succeed. I was always told education is the key to success and am therefore determined to achieve my goal of graduating college. I am pursuing my bachelor’s degree at Dominican University and intend to major in nursing.
I believe health is an important field that is in demand since it is quickly advancing and therefore has various job opportunities. After finishing my undergraduate studies, I plan to specialize in pediatrics. I enjoy working with children and believe their developmental growth is important. My goal is to improve the mental and physical health of all children.
I am actively involved in my school community. Currently, I serve on the executive board for student organization First in the Family, which helps guide first generation college students. With my leadership experience on campus and my future career, I wish to be a leader and give back through work with children around the community.
Through ANY, I hope to develop a strong support system. I want to build relationships with my Fellows to help guide each other through this tough path. I am looking forward to sharing my story and listening to others. My goal is to grow by gaining new experiences and learning from them.
