My parents didn’t attend college, but they encouraged me to study something I would enjoy. I began exploring opportunities to fulfill my curiosity starting my junior year of high school when I interned at Northern Trust. Since then I’ve interned at two other organizations. Each internship focused on a different career; business at Northern Trust, psychology at DePaul University and sales at Entertainment Cruises. These internships were beneficial because I was exposed to careers that I never thought were an option for me. Because of this, I am now a student at DePaul University pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance and a minor in Marketing.
While discovering my interests, I developed a passion for volunteering. I have volunteered at United Way where I packaged food for individuals. I’m currently applying for a volunteer position as a mentor at a local middle school for 5th graders. Whatever field I choose, giving back will be a critical part of my professional and personal life.
America Needs You aligns with my search to explore my interests and give me the opportunity to join a formal mentorship and career development program. The program will serve as a catalyst in networking, support, and exposure. My mentor will be a good example for me as I look to complete my college education and pursue a professional career. Receiving guidance is truly a gift and I look forward to one day becoming a Mentor Coach and providing the same care and guidance I received at America Needs You.
