I was born and raised in Colombia until I was seventeen, when my family moved to the United States. Currently, I am studying at Middlesex County College majoring in accounting with the goal of transferring to a four-year university. After community college, I would like to continue a career in Accounting, with a focus on Finance and Investment.
I decided that I would like to be an accountant after moving here with my family. We had no idea how many things worked and became frustrated with the cultural and language barriers we faced. Despite the challenges, we have supported each other to overcome them. In high school, I would stay after school to meet with my calculus teacher who was an accountant. He taught me how to prepare taxes so that I could show my parents. This was such a rewarding experience that I decided to become an accountant so that I could help people like my family, who could benefit from the same type of guidance.
As a determined college student with a desire to be the best, I know that America Needs You will help me become the accountant I wish to be. After these two years as a Fellow, ANY will have given me the guidance and support to strengthen my skills so that I can achieve my goals and help others.
