Being born in a small family and growing up in Elizabeth, New Jersey, life has always had its difficulties. While family size and location played a role, our financial situation was difficult as well. Not having a father around worsened the financial situation of my mother and brother by placing a huge burden on us. The only way I seemed able to cope with these circumstances was through my curiosity for the natural world. Science was my cure and eventually became my passion.
Over the years, science and all of its contents led me to attend Rutgers University. Through hard work, I persevered and made the decision to pursue a B.S. degree in Ecology, Evolution, and Natural Resources. Obtaining this degree will mean that I will have a specialized knowledge in the field of biology and environmental science. This knowledge is ensured not only through the related courses and outside activities such as naturalist and wildlife society clubs, but as well as volunteering with research on crop production.
My aspirations with this degree are to continue my education through graduate school and earn a PhD. My main goal is to become a wildlife biologist and conduct research on the ecological function of specific environments and tying it to human interactions and affects on the wild. Nature, specifically biodiversity, is important in today’s society. I absolutely believe that America Needs You aid me in my journey and motivate me towards success.
