I was born in Brooklyn, New York and both of my parents are from the Dominican Republic. I am currently a sophomore at The City College of New York working towards a B.S. in Biology.
Currently, I am exploring careers in the health field. The career I am most interested in is physical therapy. During high school, I did community service and created a variety of ways to give back to the community. We planted trees, fundraised for our school, and provided fun activities for children. These experiences from community service helped me realize that I wanted to help the people around me. With the ambition to help and my love for science, I am driven to be successful in the health field. Through my community service experience, I have also learned to be organized and work together in teams to solve issues.
I hope to apply my experience of being organized and working with others into physical therapy by creating treatment plans that will meet the specific needs of each individual. My goal is to motivate and provide support to patients in order to help them be happier and healthier. I also want to explore other careers similar to physical therapy that could help me assist patients on a deeper level. Through the New York Fellows Program, I hope to expand my network and develop fundamental leadership skills through internships, guidance from Mentor Coaches, and workshops. I also hope to explore other careers and interests to gain a better knowledge of what best suits me in order to have a successful career.
