I grew up in the Dominican Republic and came to New York City about 5 years ago. I am grateful that I am able to live in a city that is so full of opportunities. I am currently enrolled as a Liberal Arts and Science major at Hostos Community College with a concentration in Science.

I am still exploring my career path, however, I am sure that my interests lie within the science field. I chose science because it is all around us; from the microscopic world to the vastness of the universe.¬† My preference in science comes from talks about astronomy that I had with my father when I was still in elementary school. As a senior in high school, I attended an after¬≠ school program at the American Museum of Natural History where I took two astronomy courses. I appreciated going to these classes because I was able to meet people who were also interested in the subject. It is very helpful to learn about others’ perspectives towards something that one is enthusiastic about. I enjoy photography and I hope that one day I’ll be able to practice astrophotography.

I am thankful for being a part of the New York Fellows Program because it helps its members grow in character as well as acquire and enhance skills. I believe that America Needs You will help me in the process of narrowing down my interests so I find a career path that best suits me.
