I grew up in China and immigrated to the United States at the age of fourteen. As an immigrant and first-generation college student, I have motivated myself to overcome language barriers and advance both personally and professionally. I’m always grateful for my experience as an immigrant because it provided me with the skills to express myself effectively in two different languages – Mandarin and English.
I am currently a rising sophomore at Baruch College, pursuing a major in Finance and a minor in Corporate Communications. I want to become a financial analyst in investment banking because I am a very analytical person who has always had a strong interest in research and enjoys learning about many different industries. Because the financial services industry affects so many aspects of the world and is always changing, I will constantly be challenged to grow my skills. I am especially interested in applying my skills to the future market and developing investment strategies.
In the New York Fellows Program, I look forward to working with my Mentor Coach and receiving constructive feedback around professionalism and career development. I hope to interact with other Fellows of different backgrounds, which will allow me to learn from their experiences and refine my career goals. Moreover, I hope to expand my network both by interacting with other professionals and through a summer internship.
