I am a New York born Asian with four younger siblings. I currently attend the City College of New York as a Biology major, and aspire to become a veterinarian. My passion for animals began when I was gifted a dog from a friend of my father. He was a Chihuahua named Marley. Marley was very scared, confused, and protective at first, but slowly calmed down and opened up to me and my family. I spent many moments with Marley and have shared secrets that I would not reveal to anyone else. All was good until he fell ill and passed away. I was young and my parents could not afford to take him to the vet.
While working toward my Bachelor’s degree, I have been volunteering at animal shelters around Manhattan and Brooklyn. I provide dogs and cats the essential necessities while they await a permanent home. I want more than to just provide animals with their basic needs, however, so I look forward to learning about various animal health diagnoses and remedies so that I can support animals with health-related issues as well. In the future, I plan to open up a clinic where I will offer services that are healthy and natural. It will be a long way, but with the help and support of America Needs You, I am hopeful and motivated to achieve my vision.
