I am a first generation college student attending Union County Community College and majoring in Marketing. I am interested in pursuing a career in the corrective skin care industry; it is one of my biggest passions and my goal is to help burn victims and people with illness.
Moving from Poland at the age of 10 and breaking cultural barriers was not nearly as hard as is breaking the barriers that come with being a first-generation college student. For that reason, my goal is to alter the predispositions and perceptions that come up when someone mentions he or she is a first-generation college student. For now, being first-gen is used only to describe one’s education career, not who he or she is as a person. I believe this term should tell a story; it should speak to the hard work and passion first-generation students demonstrate in order to overcome a myriad of challenges.
I believe America Needs You will be one of the biggest vehicles for my mission to proudly represent students like myself. I cannot do it alone, and I am incredibly lucky to be a part of an amazing program that provides the intensive training and career development significant for building a better future. I am ready to give it my all.
