Mahera

As a first-generation college student, my parents instilled in me the importance of education and finding success and happiness in whatever I pursue in my life. As an only child of parents who struggled to make ends meet, I’ve become aware of what I had to do in order to achieve my goals in life.

I am currently a student at Lehman College pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Nursing. I plan to continue onto graduate school to obtain my master’s degree after graduation. I want to become a nurse because I want to make an impact on someone’s health and well-being. I’ve always had a drive to help people in need no matter the circumstances they are in. The career I see best fits me is in the medical field.

I am honored to be an America Needs You Fellow. I believe that ANY will give me problem-solving, reasoning, and creativity skills to go even further in the field that I am pursuing to make an even greater impact. With the help of my Mentor Coach and network of similarly driven peers, I will be prepared to strive for my personal and professional goals that I want to achieve in my future.
