Growing up on the west side of Chicago, my family taught me responsibility, integrity, and the importance of an education. My dedication to school granted me acceptance to the University of Illinois at Chicago where I major in accounting. During my second year, I was selected as a student blogger by the University News Center. My blog posts are now published on the school website. I am an active member of the Collegiate 100, a student-lead career development program on campus. I also volunteer at People’s Church.
I have chosen to pursue a career in taxes and accounting because of my natural ability to analyze information. My career goal is to obtain an accountant position at a consulting firm in Chicago where I can apply my active listening, critical thinking, and problem solving skills to help improve the company that I am a part of. Through faith and my continued dedication to learning, I will accomplish this goal.
My hope is that my experiences as a Fellow in the America Needs You program will connect me to the right people that can prepare me for the transition from college to my career. I hope to gain two internships to consulting firms and build a strong relationship with my Mentor. My future goals are to own a consulting firm in Chicago, build a corporation, and eventually help change the economic issues on the west and south sides of Chicago by building business and owning property.
