I was born and raised in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. I moved to Brooklyn in 2002 and have lived there ever since. I was raised in a family with a very high respect for education. I am studying Engineering Science at Kingsborough Community College and I would like to pursue a career in civil engineering upon transferring to a four-year university.
I truly love mathematics and I plan on writing a math textbook one day. This summer I had the amazing opportunity to tutor about 20 high school juniors and seniors to prepare them for a college campus exam; it was a very enriching experience for me given my passion for teaching and mathematics. Another one of my major interests is music: I would like to play as many instruments as I possibly can and used to play the flute in my high school band. I currently play the piano at my local church, sometimes the bass guitar, and occasionally the drums.
I am positive that my time as a part of the New York Fellows Program will allow me to grow personally and professionally in many aspects, one of which is networking. I am surrounded by a group of students, volunteers, and staff who are very ambitious and driven to impact their community in a positive way. Therefore, I am very grateful to be part of such a wonderful program. I will greatly benefit from the amazing workshops and from my Mentor Coach. I am excited to be an active participant within America Needs You!
