Miguel

My motivation to work hard to achieve the goals I set for myself can be attributed to my single mother who worked day and night to ensure we had food on the table. My journey to the United States from Mexico at the age of seven taught me the values of honesty, humility, and determination. Adapting to a new language and society has been an adventure. It instilled in me the values of hard work and dedication. These values have led me to the College of Staten Island, where I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science.

Growing up, I learned about life with a soccer ball at my feet. Soccer taught me all about leadership, teamwork, and perseverance but, most importantly, how to overcome and deal with failure. As I grew up, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career that resonated with me like soccer does, which is why I am driven towards computer science. My goal is to invent new software and computer programs – innovations that will have an impact on the way people interact with and use technology in their everyday lives. Being a soccer player and embodying the qualities of creativity and passion have positioned me well to be an innovator.

Being part of ANY is an amazing opportunity. I hope to improve my leadership skills and work ethic. With the guidance and the professional help from Mentor Coaches, I am confident that I will achieve my personal and professional goals.
