Mylinh

I immigrated to the United States from Vietnam at the age of 12. As an ESL student, it was a big transition for me. I faced many challenges assimilating to American culture, but hard work and determination allowed me to overcome many adversities. My intentions are to keep on striving for better. My experiences as an immigrant remind me of how important it is to work hard and never settle for mediocrity.  I have come to understand and want others to know that being different does not need to be a disadvantage, but can be a motivating factor in self- determination to accomplish big things in life. I want to show others that being different from the rest allows one to stand out.

I am a student at Montclair State University, pursuing a bachelor degree in Business Administration with a marketing and hospitality management concentration. I have come to realize that everyone will eventually figure out who they are and what they want for themselves. Through different internship experiences, I now better understand my goals. I hope to establish, own, and build my own business. I am driven to create a business that will fill a societal need.

America Needs You is an organization that will help me to realize my potential and achieve my goals.
