I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic and came to the United States with my mother in 2012. The first thing I learned in this country was the importance of pursuing an education in order to achieve success. At first I was afraid of going to college due to my language limitations. However, my mother encouraged me to work toward my dreams, and I decided to enroll in college. This was by far the best decision of my life.
I am currently a sophomore honors student at Bronx Community College working towards a degree in Criminal Justice. My next goal is to transfer to a senior college to study Criminology and Business. I hope to make an impact in my field that will make my parents proud and allow me to serve as an example of persistence and hard work to fellow immigrants. I believe that being a part of America Needs You is a huge step toward achieving my dreams.
My ultimate goal is to develop the skills that will make me well-rounded both professionally and personally. As an advocate for justice and honesty in the criminal justice field, I hope to help build a better world for my generation and for generations to come.
