I am a first-generation college student who was raised in the Bronx, and a current rising sophomore at Bronx Community College. I am majoring in Business Management and enrolled in the Accelerated Study In Associates Program, where I have maintained a 3.9 overall GPA. After graduating, I plan to transfer to a four-year college to obtain my bachelor’s degree.
I have over ten years of management experience and a clear understanding of the value of hard work, networking and fostering relationships. I am now focused on learning about the daily operations of successful companies, as well as how technology can most effectively support business. In my previous roles, I managed vending routes, founded a beverage distribution company and worked in hospitality.
In 2009, I became an active member of the Parenting Training Network to help others in my community persist in their education and career development, as I have, despite the substance abuse, violence and homicide in our inner city environment. The organization’s PTN’s mission is to improve parenting skills, assist families and community based organizations keep families together, and reunite families with children in foster care.
I joined America Needs You because they offer a solid support system as well as insight into the nuances within different industries. The NY Fellows Program will provide me with tools essential to further develop as a business professional. It will give me the skills necessary to succeed in today’s highly competitive environment, and accomplish my goal of making an impact in a fortune 500 company or, better yet, one day found my own.
