I was born in Bangladesh and raised in New York City. I am currently a sophomore at LaGuardia Community College working towards a degree in Computer Science. My experiences working at Microsoft and MakerBot stores have helped me realize my passion for technology and creative ways to use it to help others in society.
My uncle, who passed away from cancer, was a human rights activist and my inspiration for recently creating a 501(c)(3) nonprofit called the North American Buddhist Students Society. The organization’s purpose is to build a network of students who by way of educational and social activities will preserve and promote the universal values of compassion, kindness and truth and serve as community role models.
It is exciting to know that the New York Fellows Program provides support through workshops, internships, and a network of professionals in various fields. I hope to utilize my time in the program to gather skills to help me develop as a professional and as a person so that I am better equipped to create the blueprint of my future.
