I am currently a sophomore at York College working towards a degree in Nursing. My interest in healthcare developed as a senior in high school, where I also participated in a competitive internship program at Mount Sinai Hospital.

This internship was a life changing experience for me. Working in the anesthesiology department, I observed surgeries on a daily basis and saw the interworking of a hospital environment. This experience compelled me to pursue a career in healthcare. Through my other experiences as a volunteer in a nursing home and a homeless shelter, I discovered that I am passionate about helping others. I often volunteered to serve food and act as a companion to the residents. Helping people in this way gave me a sense of pride and responsibility.

To this end, I applied to the New York Fellows Program to aid in my career development. I always seek opportunities that will challenge me, and America Needs You is passionate about challenging ambitious and hardworking students such as myself. I hope to engage in new experiences and to see myself in a new light through participation in this program.
