One of the hardest challenges I faced was obtaining a high school diploma. In my senior year of high school, I took action to switch to an alternative high school so I could accumulate credits faster. I believe this was one of the best decisions I have made. I went to school six days each week and earned my diploma just a year after my peers. By accomplishing what I originally thought was impossible, I realized I was capable of doing anything when I put my mind to it.

The staff at the alternative high school was very supportive and it was there that I found someone that I looked up to as a mentor; she gave me the guidance I needed to get to where I am today. Through this experience I learned the value of mentorship and I hope to become a mentor someday myself. I know America Needs You will help me develop the skills I need through mentorship and, in turn, I too will become a successful mentor.

I am currently studying at Guttman Community College. I plan to major in Finance and minor in Psychology. I believe the biggest part of business is psychology. Businesses are run and managed by people, so understanding the way people think is crucial to motivating them to run a business efficiently. I am still exploring which career I would like to pursue but I know America Needs You will set me on the path to achieve my professional goals.
