I was born and raised in Sri Lanka and moved to the United States in 2007. When I was living in Sri Lanka, I saw the difficulties people endured without good healthcare. Since my uncle was a physician that owned his own private practice, I witnessed first-hand how he improved a patient’s well-being, not just through medicine, but through building a positive relationship with them. This made me passionate about becoming a physician and making a positive difference in someone’s life.
I am currently a rising sophomore at the City College of New York working towards a degree in Biology. I am passionate about the field of science because it is like a puzzle combined with a secret where you are constantly trying to uncover answers and learn about new concepts that will make the world around us better.
I am both privileged and honored to be a Fellow with America Needs You. I can obtain the professional knowledge, networking opportunities, and internships I need to succeed personally and professionally as a physician.
