Born in Brooklyn and raised in Long Island, New York, I am currently a sophomore attending Queens College majoring in Sociology and minoring in Business and Liberal arts. My participation in campus organizations and internships has been the perfect training ground for me to apply what I am learning in school. As Co-President of Queens College’s Knight and Day Step Team, I work with many types of people from different organizations, including other clubs and societies on campus. An experience I am especially proud of is my involvement in helping organize Queens College’s first step show which included drafting proposals, working as a team to finalize a routine, and connecting with other step teams as far as New Jersey. Leadership experiences such as this have allowed me to explore my interest for sociology and improve my communication and networking skills.
My ultimate goal is to work in the K-9 Unit of the Suffolk County Police Department and I am confident that my continued professional development through America Needs You’s career development workshops, internship support, and mentorship will aid me in attaining my dream. I joined the New York Fellows Program because I chase every opportunity to succeed, and this is a great chance for me to grow professionally. I hope to learn valuable networking skills as well as maintain an open mind about professional and personal opportunities. America Needs You is providing me with a strong support system and foundation for my professional life and, as a first-generation college student, I know this experience will equip me with what I need to thrive.
