Shadia

I came to the United States in 2012 to start building my career. I currently attend Kingsborough Community College where I am pursuing my associate degree in Engineering. Additionally, I participate in the college’s honors program and I’ll eventually transfer to a four-year university to earn my bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering.

Education has opened my eyes to the skills I have. It was my college classes that have helped me discover my passion for math and science. This has led me on the journey to become a Teacher’s Assistant for a math class. Additionally, I am creative and love to come up with new ideas. I also have a very motivated and driven personality which has enabled me to be independent and reach my goals.

Moreover, my professional goals that the Fellows program can help me achieve are to be involved in an organization for women’s rights and help young students to obtain their educational dreams.  I’m eager for ANY to connect me with professionals in my field. I joined the Fellows Program because I want to gain skills required in the working world and craft a better understanding of what I can do and accomplish in life. I am honored to be an America Needs You Fellow!
