I was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY. Growing up with younger siblings I cultivated leadership skills and worked to be a great role model to my three sisters. I came from a home in which I didn’t see much of a future for myself; school was where I could be free, and it is what saved me. The great amount of support and encouragement I received from my teachers helped me become the strong and independent woman I am today.
I currently attend Kingsborough Community College, where I am pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Fine Arts with a concentration in photography. I hope to become professional photographer and open up a studio that helps youth build confidence by expressing themselves through images. Photography helped me when I was attending high school and as my images evolved, so did I. Now I am the media officer for the Phi Theta Kappa honor’s society at my college, and I introduced some of my work at an Honors Symposium last fall.
Being a part of America Needs You will teach me what it takes to be a better leader and help me gain more confidence in my work. I joined this program because I saw an opportunity to learn how to network and to gain skills necessary to be successful in my chosen career path. My future goals are to get a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts and to continue pursuing internships in photography to master the key concepts of creating a strong and successful business.
